Dr. Li is an expert in the total synthesis of complex natural products, including polycyclic and caged natural products. He also has researched efficient synthesis strategies based on molecular structural symmetry and biosynthetic pathways, alkaloid synthesis, novel bio-orthogonal reactions, and their applications in the chemical biology field. Dr. Li earned a bachelor’s degree and his Doctorate from Peking University and Scripps Research Institute (USA) respectively. Dr. Li has won many awards including the Young Chemistry Award of the Chinese Chemical Society – British Royal Chemical Society, the second “Scientific Exploration Award”, Thieme IUPAC Organic, Thieme IUPAC Organic Composite Chemistry Award, Tetrahedral Young Scientist Award, WuXi AppTec Life Chemistry Research Award, Roche China Young Scholar Award, and the Thieme Chemical Journal Award. He currently serves as the deputy director of Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the deputy director of the State Key Laboratory of Biological Organic Chemistry.
